Chelsea are reportedly considering a late move to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez.
The Blues have made just one high-profile signing this summer with Romelu Lukaku arriving from Inter Milan for €115m.
They are interested in signing a new centre-back, and it is widely known that they are considering a deal for Sevilla’s Jules Kounde.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Blues will decide over the next few days whether they need to sign a new midfielder.
Saul is one of the top names on the club’s radar, but they have yet to make any kind of approach for the Spain international.
Atletico are open to sanctioning the sale of Saul this month as they have sufficient cover following Rodrigo De Paul’s arrival.
Saul has a staggering €150m release clause on his contract, but Atletico are aware that no club will come close to that figure.
With the need to balance their books, Saul could be sold for a fee of around €45m before the transfer deadline on August 31.
