The president of Bayern Munich admits that it is impossible to keep the two pillars at all costs

Joshua Kimmich has a contract with Bayern Munich until the summer of 2023. Sooner, his teammate Leon Goretzka will expire his contract with “Gray Lobster” next year.

Manchester United are said to want to sign Goretzka before the summer transfer window closes. If not selling the 26-year-old midfielder, Bayern risks losing him after 1 year. The Allianz Arena team is in talks to renew with both Kimmich and Goretzka.

However, chairman Hainer insists that Bayern will not defy all principles to do so. The head of the “Gray Lobster” told Kicker: “The players know what they have at Bayern.”

“Here, they are also very well paid, everyone is treated well. Whether it’s now or in the future, the members can win titles with Bayern.”

Kimmich joined Bayern from RB Leipzig in 2015. To date, the 26-year-old has contributed 30 goals and 72 assists in 262 appearances for the Bundesliga giants. Kimmich won 16 trophies during his time at Bayern.

With Goretzka, this number is 10. The midfielder from Schalke in 2018 made 113 appearances, scoring 25 goals and providing 27 assists.

Also on this occasion, Hainer spoke out about the news that UEFA canceled the financial fair play law. Instead, the governing body of European football considers punishing clubs that exceed the salary limit in the big leagues of the old continent.

“I’m not at all convinced by the new rule,” Hainer said. In the event of a breach, a club will have to pay 100 million euros, which must be divided among other clubs. This money doesn’t help them radically and doesn’t really hurt the big boys.”

“We need the right regulations to compete fairly. Aggressive efforts through sanctions have often been modified or reduced in the past. It doesn’t work as intended.”

Bayern only has 1 notable rookie, Upamecano

In addition, Hainer confirmed that they are open to bringing in more new signings before this summer shopping season closes. So far, Bayern only has 3 rookies before the new season, Dayot Upamecano, Omar Richards and Sven Ulreich with the latter two names not being appreciated.

It is no coincidence that “Gray Lobster” only drew and lost in the first 5 matches, both friendly and official under new coach Julian Nagelsmann. In the opening match in the Bundesliga 2021-22, they were held 1-1 by Borussia M’gladbach.

Hainer continued: “Bayern is monitoring the transfer market and from now until the end of August will be looking at 1, 2 targets. But we still have a roster with a lot of top quality national players. So there’s no need to rush to buy someone.”
